Recently at work I had a man tell me I couldn’t understand him because I was bloody Irish. This was after being informed of how disgusting I was due to having tattoos. I must admit that I have had others tell me how they feel about my tattoos and on the whole the comments have been positive. These comments knocked me though. I haven’t been racially abused in a long time and believe me I have been attacked before for being Irish. The early 90’s were not a good time to be Irish in England. Suffice to say an incident report was submitted. But it doesn’t really cut it, does it? I mean the comments may mean nothing to him but to me they were a personal attack.
