Travelling back to Ireland…part 2

I visited with my cousin Paul whilst back home on his land which he’s named Base Camp Knader. He is a huge fan of mountain climbing and other outdoor activities. He had a horrific accident about a year ago and this year he finally managed to get out of the wheelchair. To celebrate being back on two legs he participated in an endurance race called Hell and Back which includes a -53 degrees ice bath! WTF! But bless his crazy heart he did it and was on a high for days after.

This is my cousin Paul on his land with his horse. This was taken before this summer just gone. So proud of him.

This is the teepee he has built on his land. He opens his doors to people travelling around Donegal during the festival season.

His home is in the hills outside Ballyshannon and this is the view he has from his home. So beautiful. 🙂

Here is Miss Ellie who he named after our grandmother not the character from Dallas. 🙂 She is so beautiful and sweetnatured. Although she did push me off the sofa. 😀

Paul has a part of the meadow out the front of the house which he has left for the butterflies and bees. He’s encouraging the growth of plants and flowers which the bees and butterflies are attracted to. The other pictures are of the ducks he has. They are quite the little bullies actually. The poor little white one frequently gets jumped on by the others. 😦

Travelling back to Ireland

I went back home to Ireland to visit my family. I hadn’t been back in about two years so was well overdue. Here are some posts and pics I took whilst back there. Spent a lot of time with mum visiting friends and family. Donegal is a beautiful place and I cannot recommend it enough as a place to visit.

This is me with my mum and we’re on Rossnowlagh beach out walking with Grace.

The pictures above are of my mums friends’ organic farm and the little shetland pony who lives with them. Her name is Star and she has quite a character. I obviously was not feeding her the treats quick enough so she stomped on my foot and pushed me over so I would drop the bucket. Clever girl. 😀

These are pictures of Grace, the lurcher who lives with my mum. Isn’t she gorgeous?! I love her to bits.

Whilst back home I went to my nephews christening and it was brilliant. A wonderful opportunity to meet up with family I haven’t seen in years. My nephew is so cute. Such a good baby but then all my sisters babies have been amazingly good and gorgeous.

I went to visit my uncle as well and had a wonderful opportunity to feed some sheep he has in his back garden. These little guys had been hand fed but abandoned when still young. So my uncle took them in and they live in his back garden and the adjoining paddock. The little one with the white face on my right is so affectionate. He was leaning into me as I was scratching the back of his ears.

Succulents

Ray took a cutting from the Sempervivum his father has in his garden. The mandala design looks like it was based upon this plant. So beautiful. I’ve popped in the window in the bathroom in the hope the moisture in the air and the sun will keep it happy.
